it s been around three years since jpattersson opened up a whole new horizon of formerly unheard possibilities between the worlds of dub and techno. a lot has been happening ever since, and thatÕs very noticeable on his second album. it still has all the signature elements of jpattersson: there s his dreamy, virtuous trumpet play and his witty vocals, there s his dubby delays and heavyweight beats which often line up in a downbeat rhythm. however, besides his fanfares there s now also many folks, many musical friends who contribute to the vibe of this album. there s a track with berlin mc longfingah, latin-flavoured rhythms from polish reggae and dancehall producer dreadsquad as well as a stylistically wide range of remixes that reflect the symbiotic cooperation and mutual inspiration of these last years.

with ÈredsuperstructureÇ, robert lippok created a new foundation for his musical endeavors. now Ð 7 years later Ð this system properly comes to life on Èapplied autonomyÇ. the title of the new album is a clear indicator as to what the berlin-based producer has been up to during the last couple of years, both on a conceptual level as well as how he molds his ideas into tracks. Èapplied autonomyÇ orchestrates a certain state of frantic standstill, which occurs once a structure is set. has this state been reached, the artist is free to focus on other equally important aspects, balancing the various shades, pushing ideas even further to really make them shine and blossom in their self-declared autonomy. the more light one lets in, the more layers become visible. layers are key when it comes to understanding Èapplied autonomyÇ. big chunks of the material with which the album has been produced derive from sketches specifically made for a club performance. rather than meticulously devising each and every detail, lippok focussed instead on recording as many fragments as possible in a short period of time, elements which he could later combine and layer on stage. based on this material and his experience experimenting with it in a live environment, the album slowly began to shape. an album culminating in a collaboration with klara lewis, with whom lippok spent 2 days at the ems studios in stockholm, approaching the idea of autonomy from yet another angle. during the session, both musicians played and performed simultaneously, yet not explicitly together, lost in their own thoughts and ideas, only subconsciously taking in what the other one was coming up with. the result is ÈsamtalÇ, 14 minutes of a constantly evolving state of poise, magically connecting all the dots lippok had already defined as Èapplied autonomyÇ. the artwork for Èapplied autonomyÇ has been created by the berlin-based argentinian artist luca gutierrez. over the last couple of years, he has made a name for himself with his spectacular av performances.

the/das ist ein aus der formation bodi bill hervorgegangenes musikprojekt von fabian fenk (gesang) und philipp koller (elektronik, mix), das 2012 in berlin gegrŸndet wurde. der bandname soll eine neutrale bedeutung haben und in keine bestimmte richtung verweisen. ihren sound nennen die beiden techno tenderness, was in etwa chilliger afterhour-musik bzw. new romantic house entspricht. diesen fanden die geneigten hšrer auf bislang Ÿber einer handvoll veršffentlichungen, darunter der lp -freezer- von 2014. dessen innig ersehnter nachfolger erscheint auf dem italienischen, von dj tennis gefŸhrten label life and death. wŠhrend bei frŸheren releases eher der homelistening-aspekt betont wurde, gibt das produzentenduo auf -exit strategies- verstŠrkt clubfreundliche seiten von sich preis. dafŸr vermengen die zwei ziemlich geschickt, geschmackssicher und facettenreich ursprŸnglichen techno berliner prŠgung und organische soundschleifen miteinander und wŸrzen das ganze mit verspielten kinematografischen details. ein aufwŠndiges verfahren, dessen umsetzung von losen skizzen Ÿber die ersten arrangements und immer wieder neuen †berarbeitungen bis zum finalen mix im studio rund drei jahre dauerte.

island people is a new band project consisting of mastering engineer conor dalton, grammy award winning producer david donaldson, and musician and dj graeme reedie. on their first self- titled record, they present their collaborative work that evolved over the past three years. being based in different cities, namely berlin and glasgow, files had to be exchanged back and forth between the three band members in order to create tracks. for their delicate sound structures, field recordings and other sound sources were heavily processed and rendered unrecognizable. layer after layer, the tracks came into being quiet naturally, not only reflecting their continuous way of working, but also incorporating their different and individual backgrounds: Òduring the whole creation of the album, we never realized our actions were quickly leading us into forming Èisland peopleÇ, we were too busy having fun, making music and sharing ideas.Ó the result of their collaboration is a timeless music that is as open as a natural phenomenon, developing a certain feeling of euphoria over time. all in all, Èisland peopleÇ is a pure listening record in the best tradition of ambient.

framed by two spoken word samples and wrapped in house and techno emotions, that know about electro and 90Õs electronica too: the new, second album of the leipzig and berlin based producer and live artist martin enke aka lake people moves in a fresh way. this time he shifts towards a focus on the essentials of electronic club music: sounds and groove, rough and playful interweaved with the aesthetic particles of techno. with his Òpoint epÓ, released on the berlin based imprint krakatau records in late 2012, his creative life as a producer for melancholic driven club tunes took off. several top notch djs played the tune Òpoint in timeÓ, lake people started to tour world-wide with his mesmerizing live set and produced countless remixes for colleagues from all around the globe. in 2015 he finally released his first album Òpurposely uncertain fieldÓ on the munich based label permanent vacation and delivered eleven tracks at the interface of techno, ambient, experimental and electronic, that bewitch with hymnal chords, yearningly melodies, detailed production, elaborate sound design and an overall introspective, emotive feeling. now, just shortly after he published a fresh ep on the dresden based imprint uncanny valley, lake people drops Òphase transitionÓ, a new album consisting of ten haunting tracks full of dance suspense. he recorded all between 2016 and early 2017 on various vintage analog synthesizers, uad and other creative interfaces. to find out if his latest pure slamming tracks work deep, he tried them out during his live shows in order to catch some new ideas directly from the dance floor.
